Silver - Multi release
The Grey SPD-SL cleats have a multi-release, which means you can click out in three ways. By moving your heel out, pulling your shoe diagonally to the right and/or up. It is precisely these many ways of clicking out that make these pedals suitable for beginners and for bikers who are not yet completely sure about their click pedals. If you are the type of person that likes to jump around, then the black cleats are probably more suitable for you.
Black - Single release
Blue SPD-SL cleats have a single release, which means you can only click out in one way by moving your heel sideways. This means you are always very tight in your pedals. This one is suitable for those who are more experienced with clicking in and out with SPD pedals and who like to jump.
